Question:
I saw a patient 6 weeks post-op T&A and went over the path report with mom – it showed “acute on chronic tonsillitis”. Can I bill for the visit with modifier 24 because we discussed the path report?

Answer:
No. This service would be considered related to the procedure and not separately billed.  It is not an appropriate use of modifier 24 (unrelated E/M service in a postoperative global period).
