Question:
Is there a code or what code category would I find the code for reconstruction of the parotidectomy defect with a sheet of acellular dermal matrix?  I billed 15275 but the insurance company denied it after looking at my operative report.

Answer:
CPT 15275 is a skin replacement code so placing it under the skin, as soft tissue reinforcement, is not an accurate use of the code.  There is a code for the type of procedure you describe, +15777, but it is limited for use in the breast or trunk area.  There is not a code for the service you describe.  You can either report an unlisted code such as 17999 (and compare it to +15777) or consider it inclusive to your parotidectomy code and not code separately for that service.
