Question:
I am doing the planning for a patient using a frameless stereotactic radiosurgery system but I am not present at the time of the treatment delivery. Can I still bill 61796-61799?

Answer:
Unfortunately, there is not a code for the neurosurgeon to use for planning only. The SRS codes 61796-61799, include the planning but require the neurosurgeon’s presence.
